Matthew is a music teacher for piano and voice at the Champaign School of Music and is part of the jazz faculty for the BBL Fine Arts Academy. In 2021, Matthew earned his B.A. in Jazz Performance at Roosevelt University, where he received full tuition to attend and was the lead trombonist in the LJE. In 2024, Matthew earned his M.M. in Jazz Studies at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where he was yet again the lead trombonist in the top jazz band and received full school tuition from being selected as a Graduate Assistant. Responsibilities as a GA were teaching jazz combos, substitute teaching various music courses when the Professors were out of town, giving private lessons, and helping the jazz faculty to run things smoothly. When he is not teaching, Matthew is either practicing his trombone or composing music while at the piano.
